My last two iPhone 12 pro videos were shot with the new Dolby Vision HDR setting but I made the mistake of not exporting them correctly. The workflow has been challenging and working with the Wide Gamut HDR – Rec 2020 PQ color space for my first time took a lot of trial and error. I tried to keep the highlight luminance under 256 and from the research I’ve done so far I’ve learned that Dolby Vision isn’t available on YouTube just yet. With that said, I’m excited about the future of mobile filmmaking and I hope you guys enjoy my first video uploaded on HDR 4K.
Shot at 4K 24/60 FPS on the iPhone native camera app
Edited on my MacBook Pro using Final Cut Pro X
If you want to watch this in HDR you have to have an HDR-compatible device. I’ve also tested this on both Safari and Google Chrome on my laptop and only Chrome gives the HDR option.
