Do I have to give a recorded statement to the insurance company in a Florida auto accident case?

Very often when you’ve been involved in an accident, the insurance company on the other side will request a recorded statement. And the clients often ask me, “Do I have to give a statement?”

My short answer is, “Maybe.” Not in every instance. You’re not obligated by any means to give a recorded statement just because it’s requested. It really just depends on the circumstances. What’s important to remember however, is that if you choose to give a recorded statement, you should have your attorney there with you, either on the phone or in person, so that you can feel comfortable with the process, and so that your answers won’t be misconstrued by the insurance company.
